It doesn’t matter if you are a more experienced dancer or this is the first dance class you have been to. Amber will shape the class and give you moves to suit your needs.
We will have plenty of breaks to help keep your energy up. Bring a water bottle and lunch if you are staying for the afternoon. We will have some snacks…or bring your own.
Time:
11-1pm: ALL ages 7-16yrs (We all get warmed up and get to know each other as a bigger group)
11-3pm: 11+ yrs (The older ones stay on after lunch to learn some more moves)
FAQ’s
What if I can’t get the moves or don’t understand?
Amber has been running our Quiet Beats workshops for over a year and works with lots of different dancers. She is really good at making things clear, especially for D/deaf folks. She will go over things as many times as you need. We know you will feel a lot more confident about what you can do by the time you finish.
We will also have BSL interpreter Cathryn McShane with us too who is also a dancer so between them they will be able to help you every step of the way.
My child has other disabilities, can they join too?
Ambers workshops and skills are around making workshops accessible for D/deaf young people rather than physical disabilities and this is the focus of the work we do. It really depends on how much support you need with other things. Some of the young D/deaf people we work with do have other access needs but they are able to participate without additional support. We must make sure that we are able to meet your needs. If you are unsure if this class is right for you or your young person then please get in touch with us to discuss. If it isn’t, we will try and direct you to other accessible dance classes that better suit your needs.
